Man Sentenced for 62 Years in Prison for 2013 Shooting

Man Shoots Phoenix Officer and Sentenced for 62 Years

A convicted felon has now been sentenced to sixty-two years in prison for the 2013 shooting that had wounded a Phoenix Police Officer. These police officers put their life on the line to keep our lives safe, so I’m glad this officer will get some peace knowing that his shooter is facing the consequences. Not often enough, do the victims get to see justice from the suspects. This was a win for all wounded police officers.

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the shooter, Brandon McCabe was sentenced on Thursday to an “aggravated term”.  He had been convicted back in August for attempted first-degree murder as well as: aggravated assault, criminal trespassing, misconduct involving weapons, and resisting arrest.  Quite a colorful past for our shooter.

McCabe Has Criminal Past

On January 6, 2013 Brandon McCabe was accused of shooting Police Officer, Peter “Chris” Bennett on that January night.  Luckily thirty-six year old Officer Bennett survived his gunshot wounds. He suffered injuries to his face, right hip, and right arm. Apparently Officer Bennett survived the wounds. He approached the shooter, McCabe in an area which has a pretty high burglary rate.

Brandon had ignored the Officer’s command and then the two then exchanged gunfire. McCabe was then arrested after he was found hiding in a nearby shed, like a little coward. He also had some gunshot wounds to both of his hands. Sounds like it would have been a crazy gun shoot out.

Hopefully less officers are injured keeping our streets safe. They work hard all year round with many hours, they definitely do not get paid enough. Let’s hope Officer Bennett’s recovery goes well and he’s back to being himself.  We need more police and more citizens like Officer Bennett and less people like McCabe in this crazy world.

Car Wash Shooting

Phoenix Car Wash Shooting Leaves One Dead

According to the Police, a suspect shot a man at a car wash in Phoenix and then had a seat on the ground nearby the incident. James Holmes who is a spokesman with the Phoenix Police said that the victim was a male. He was at a car wash that was near 3rd Street and McDowell Road on Sunday. The shooting happened around two, thirty in the evening. The suspect just walked up to the victim and shot him.

Mr. Holmes said that the suspect had walked only a short distance from the scene and then sat down under a tree while holding his weapon. The responding officers were luckily able to convince him to give him self up after some negotiations. Holmes also stated that the victim had died from his gunshot injuries. A police lieutenant who was at the scene told the local news that the suspect and the victim were related.

 Police Investigate Car Wash Shooting

The police were able to identify the victim. The Phoenix Police say that the victim was a fifty-four year old man named David Pacheco-Chavez. The car was that he was shot and killed at was the Los Olivos Car Wash.

Police are unsure of why the suspect would shoot his family member. Especially since the victim and suspect lived together. But apparently there might have been an on-going dispute between them. The victim, David Pacheco-Chavez was actually an employee of the Los Olivos Car Wash.

This might sound like a strange shooting and it is, but sadly these kind of random shootings aren’t uncommon. It’s sad that these family members couldn’t work out their differences peacefully instead of it ending with one of their lives.

Two People Dead After Double Shooting in Laveen

Double Shooting in Laveen Kills Two People

According to local police, two people are now dead after a double shooting in the Laveen area on Thursday afternoon.  According to the report, the shooting happened around two, fifty in the afternoon. It happened close to the 55th Lane and Euclid Avenue.

Jonathan Howard who is a Phoenix Police Sgt. stated that the officers arrived to the scene and they then found one of the shooting victims was shot in the street.  Police said that the man wasn’t cooperative at first, however he did point out the house to the authorities and that is where they found a body of a second shooting victim inside of the doorway. The second victim had been shot several times.

A news video showed that the garage of the home, had some pretty significant damage. Police also believe that the suspect had crashed through the garage door when he tried to flee the scene.

There is no definite suspect description at this time. Police, however are looking for a red truck that has visible damage.

Police Think Double Shooting is Drug Related

The police have stated that even though the investigation process is still pretty early, there have been indications that the double shooting is a drug related crime. Police also believe that a family of “squatters” had been staying at the home and using it as a stash house to hide their drugs.

Both of the shooting victims have not been identified at this time. One of the victims is a Hispanic male and an adult Black male.

Police are asking that if anyone has any information about this double shooting, drug crime, please call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6141 or the Silent Witness program at 480-948-6377.

Man Indicted for 1998 Toddler Murder

Man Charged with Killing a Four Year Old Toddler in 1998

A family is finally getting some justice for their four year old little girl who was killed in 1998. The investigation was 17 years in the making.  The man who killed the four year old little girl from Arizona was finally arrested on Friday according to the prosecutors. It’s hard to believe that a case that has went on this long is finally getting some closure.

The man, Avelino Guzman Tamala was finally indicted last week for the murder charges of the 1998 death of Crystal Reyes. Tamala is fifty-one years old.

A col case investigative team from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office was finally able to recently, positively identify the four year old little girl’s remains. Her remains were found on December 1, 1998 near the community of Mobile.

The investigators had found some information that indicated that Crystal was actually killed in April 1997, while she was in the care of her mother and Tamala. Guess there goes the “relief for the worried parents” theory I had.  How sick is this? The little girl was buried in a desert not far from Mobile. The investigators were recently able to use Crystal’s biological father’s DNA to positively identify her remains. However, the prosecutors have not stated how the evidence connects Tamala to Crystal’s death.

Breakthrough in Four Year Old’s 17 Year Old Murder Case

The officers with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Tamala without any complications on Friday. He is now to appear in court on February second for the initial pretrial conference.

The police are searching for Crystal’s mother, Anna Marlene Reyes who is now forty-eight years old.

The County Attorney, Bill Montgomery said that Crystal had been a victim of physical abuse. She even had to have her head shaved and was forced to live in a dog kennel. How sad, that poor child.

 Bill Montgomery’s Statement:

Thanks to the diligence of our cold case investigation team in cooperation with our law enforcement partners, we are now able to seek justice for an innocent child whose life was inexcusably and violently cut short.

Police Searching for Circle K Robbery Suspect

Circle K Robbery Suspect Still Not Found

In September, the Circle K store had a scare of a lifetime. Police still haven’t been able to find the robbery suspect. Silent Witness is stepping up their game though. They want to find whoever did this. Silent Witness is offering up to $1,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest of the aggravated robbery suspect.

The news release stated that a man had entered the Circle K store, which is near the 7th Avenue and the Loop 101 just after four o’clock in the morning back in September on the twenty-first.

The robbery suspect then forced the poor, scared clerk as well as a terrified customer to get behind the counter. The two of them were tied up with zip ties (which probably hurt and was very uncomfortable) while the suspect put up the “closed” sign and then zip tied the door. He apparently came armed with zip ties.

The suspect fled the robbed store in a silver 1990 Buick. The vehicle did have another person in it. The suspect took some cartons of cigarettes as well as a coin machine tray from inside the store.

Robbery Suspect Description

The robbery suspect’s description was described as a male who is in his mid forties. He’s around five foot, nine inches tall and weighs around 195 pounds. The man was last seen wearing a red bandanna and has brown hair.  He was also wearing a short-sleeved khaki shirt and light shorts.

If you have any information about the aggravated robbery or the suspect, please call 480-Witness. Don’t forget if you are the one who helps Silent Witness catch this man, you could get a $1,000 reward. So, if you don’t have enough courage to come talk to someone about this on your own, maybe the $1,000 will help you out.

Knife Throwing Man Shot By Phoenix Police Officer

Phoenix Police Officer Shoots a Man Who was Throwing a Knife

On Thursday morning, according to the phoenix police, a man who is a suspect in a knife throwing case is still in critical condition after an officer shot the man.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard with the Phoenix Police department said that the shooting took place close to the 24th Avenue and Union Hills. The police say that a thirty-five year old man had confronted another man who had just gotten to work. The first man started to childishly throw rocks at the other mans car. The suspect finally took it too far and threw a larger rock and damaged the victim’s vehicle. The victim drove away and called the police.

Two officers got to the scene at separate times and started searching for the suspect. One of the officers didn’t have to look hard because he was actually confronted by the suspect. How? The suspect ran up to the police vehicle and started hitting the passenger door as well as the window. The hitting also caused damage to the police car. The policeman says the suspect was screaming “unintelligibly”.

The second officer caught up to the situation and saw the suspect beating on the other officer’s vehicle. The suspect then decided to turn on the new officer and threw a knife at him. The knife ended up shattering the windshield.

Suspect Throws a Knife at Police Officer

Apparently the suspect hadn’t had enough violence for one day so he ran over to the driver’s side door of the officer’s vehicle and then as the officer tried to get out, the suspect raised his hand ready to throw another knife. Having no other choice, the officer shot the man as he started to throw the other knife.
