Suspicious Man Admits to Having Weapons Near Super Bowl Stadium

Man Admits to Having Weapons Near Super Bowl Stadium

The Phoenix Police say that their most recent encounter with Super Bowl security is a great example of “See Something, Say Something”. Sometimes it saves lives, sometimes it just causes worry. But it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Especially with something as major as a super bow with millions of people.

On Tuesday, around nine o’ clock in the morning, one of the parking attendants told the officers that he saw a suspicious man walking near third Street and Washington. Which just happens to be near where the Super Bowl will be happening this year in Downtown Phoenix.

Police Confront Suspicious Man Near Super Bowl Stadium

Police say that they were quickly able to confront the man. He admitted to the police that he had weapons in his vehicle. When the police looked inside, they found a 12-gauge shotgun that was wrapped in a towel and laying on the dash, a handgun that was between the front seats, and a military type knife in plain view. Sounds like this guy definitley wanted to get caught.

The police say that the man was talking “incoherently” when they found him and that he also appeared to be lost and maybe confused. Due to his behavior the officers took him where he could get a mental health evaluation.

The police impounded the vehicle as well as the weapons and the man’s other belongings for safekeeping. The man has not been arrested at this time, so they are not releasing his name. Even though he was rather close to the stadium, he never got near enough (a 12 block area) of where Super Bowl Central is and that, the Super Bowl area is very secure.

Two Young People Wounded in Officer Involved Shooting

12 Year Old and 18 Year Old Injured in Officer Involved Shooting

According to the local authorities, a twelve year old girl and an eighteen year old young man have both been wounded in an “officer-involved” shooting. The shooting happened at a North Phoenix Home.

The police say that the incident had started on a Tuesday afternoon. This started after the fourteen year old girl called the police. She claimed that she had felt threatened by an eighteen year old young man that she met online. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

The police said that the girl had told the officers that the two weren’t together anymore, she got scared after the man had left some gifts for her on the doorstep of her home. The home was near Tatum and Deer Valley Road.

Teens Meet Online And Things Escalate to a Shooting

The police officers had gotten a call saying that there was a man with a gun in the neighborhood. When Police got there, the person with a gun turned out to be the eighteen year old that the girl had called to report just that morning.

When the police got to the scene, they told the man to put the gun down. Being eighteen and sounds a little crazy, he refused. The Police say that the man had started to go into the fourteen year old girls home, that is when the officers had to shoot him.

Some time during the shooting, the man’s gun had went off. It hit the girl’s little sister who is only twelve years old. The twelve year old is luckily in stable condition and is still at the hospital. However, the eighteen year old boy is in pretty serious condition at this time. No officers were injured during the shooting. Police have not released the names of those injured at this time.

Home Grown Pot Plants Numbers Decreasing Due to Pot Dispensaries

Pot Dispensaries Help Lower Home Grown Pot Numbers

2014 was a big year for changes. Same sex marriages became legal in quite a few states and a lot of those states have agreed to legalize marijuana and Republicans are taking over. Everyone has an opinion on these huge changes, some good, some bad, some both. There’s good and bad in everything in my opinion, except marriages…people should marry whoever they want.

Anyways, pot dispensaries’ medical marijuana sales have grown a great bit in Arizona in 2014. The increase that state regulators attribute to fact that very few patients are allowed to grow their own. This is new, and they’re already talking about changes to the marijuana laws.

Marijuana Dispensaries Sales Grow

The State Department of Heath Services has said that the dispensaries has reported more than 1.4 million in sales. Which is equal to ten tons of marijuana, over 55,000 patients in 2014. That’s crazy! Great for those who truly need it though. According to the Health Department, that is up from the 2.7 tons sold in 2013.

According to the department, the 2014 usage would be close to a joint a day per patient. I guess that’s not too bad if you need it. It’d be like your morning thyroid or heart pill, only you smoke this.

Due to Arizona’s marijuana laws, patients who live farther than twenty-five miles from a dispensary are able to grow their own. A lot of people who need the medical marijuana probably can’t just up and drive that far, so it would make things much easier if they could grow their own.

However, with this law, very few patients are allowed to actually grow their own marijuana. Dispensary numbers are growing so that makes it hard to stay out side of that twenty-five mile range. There are now eighty-five dispensaries in Arizona that are operating. It is also recorded that almost 98 percent of the people who need the medical marijuana, usually live within twenty-five miles of the dispensaries.

Detention Officer Accused of Coordinating a Gang Attack on Inmate

Officer Works With Inmate to Coordinate a Gang Attack

A detention officer from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has been accused of working with an inmate to plan out a gang attack on another inmate in the Fourth Avenue Jail.

Twenty-nine year old, Kevin Holsome is the suspected dentition officer. He has been charged with participating in a criminal street gang.

Court Documents Showed that Holsome had talked to an Inmate about a plan:

purposely open his cell as well as other cells housing [the inmate’s] gang associates in order to assault

The detention officer is accused of having an argument with the targeted inmate. According to the court documents, the argument was over an intercom and the officer threatened to ” (cuss word) him up”.

Holsome assured the accomplice that he would open the inmates’ cell doors to let them carry out the attack. This would be while the targeted inmate would be out on his one hour of recreation time. The suspected accomplice is suspected of being a member of a Mexican mafia. Luckily, for the targeted inmate, the attack never happened.

The MCSO launched an investigation into Holsome after the targeted inmate had filed a grievance.  The attended inmate claimed that he had recieved threats from the detention officer back in December.

According to the court documents which detailed the detention officer’s threats and intimidation against the  victim inmate as well as the covert communication that the officer and suspected inmate used. They allegedly used hand signals to communicate.

The detention officer was place on “administrative leave” from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Holsome was arrested on January 13th but was later released on bond. MSCO stated that Holsome had been hired back in August 2012, he had no prior issues with the department.

New Bill To Legalize Marijuana Use in Arizona

New Bill Makes It Legal to Use Marijuana in Arizona

Times are changing. Some things for the better, some things for the worse. You can be the judge of what’s good or bad. A state representative has now introduced a new bill that would make it legal the recreation use of marijuana in Arizona.

The new bill, House Bill 2007, will allow anyone who is o twenty-one or older to legally possess an ounce or less of marijuana.

If you are twenty-one or older, you could even legally grow at most five marijuana plants. You could even exchange an ounce of marijuana between people as long as your of age. However, you can not sale it.  There is going to be a tax of $50 that would be levied on every ounce that is transferred from a grow facility to a retail store.

Marijuana Bill Taxes Sales of Marijuana

Of course taxing things helps the state, fifty percent of the tax would actually go into Arizona’s “general” fund. Thirty percent of the tax would go towards the education and the rest of the tax would go to public health and education programs.

If you’re not a fan of marijuana, good news for you. Public smoking would still be banned on Marijuana use.

Richard Baker (Who uses Marijuana for Medical Reason’s) Statement:

All these kids are doing to get it, and then what’s going to happen? We’re going to have a bunch of flunkies.

While Mr. Baker has to use the drug for rheumatoid arthritis, he knows first hand the negative side effects of marijuana. He says that marijuana has dulled his memory.

Stev-0’s Statement about Taxing Marijuana

I think it costs us more to try to stop it than what it would actually cost to allow it to be legal.

Stev-O admitted to using Marijuana for de-stressing and sporadic pains.

Right now the only place recreational use of marijuana is in Colorado and Washington State.
