16 Year Old Stabbed on Prom Day

Prom Day Turns Fatal for 16 Year old Girl

Prom is the best night of a lot of teens lives, however for one 16 year old girl her prom day wasn’t quite as enjoyable as most. The girl was stabbed at her high school the same day as her junior prom. She died due to wounds to her neck and torso.

The Connecticut medical examiner ruled that Maren Sanchez’s death was indeed a homicide.

Her 16 year old male classmate was charged with murder as a juvenile. The brutal attack happened on Friday morning which was just a few hours before the school’s prom night. The police are investigating whether her death was due to her turning down the boy’s invitation to prom.

Police have not released the boy’s name since he is a minor. However some witnesses that saw the boy taken into custody said that his name is Chris Plaskon. Chris was described as “genial and respectful” it is also stated that he was a friend of the victim.

The boy’s attorney, Richard Meehan stated that his client is being held under psychiatric evaluation. The boy will not appear at the arraignment. Meehan thinks that his client will eventually be charged as an adult.

Meehan’s statement about the stabbing

His family is devastated not only for him, but the youngster who was killed. It’s a terrible situation all the way around.

According to a teacher at the school, the suspect has 4 brother and has a great sense of humor. His family is also involved in the community.

The Teacher’s statement about the boy who stabbed the girl

There’s no reason to suspect he would have done this. I think that’s what makes it harder.

Chris is an overall good student:

Sanchez, a member of the National Honor Society who was active in drama and other school activities, had been focused on prom in the days before her death. She had posted a photograph on Facebook of her blue prom dress and was looking forward to attending with a new boyfriend.

The school is staying closed on Monday to show respect. There is a memorial service that was scheduled on Monday at the school’s football field. They Junior class is hoping to raise funds to have a memorial bench placed in the young girl’s honor.

Police Arrest 60 Year Old Serial Bank Robber

60 Year Old Arrested for Being a Serial Bank Robber

When you think of bank robber’s you usually think of young men or the Bonnie and Clyde version, however a sixty year old man is changing things up in the bank robber book.

The Phoenix police have arrested the 60 year old serial bank robber. This week he had tried to flee from his latest bank job at a downtown bank in Phoenix. The sixty year old man is John Timothy Miller and he was booked on Monday, March 21. He was taken to the Maricopa County jail on “several” counts of bank robbery.

According to the report, the Phoenix Police detectives have been working with the FBI. They worked together since February to track down and arrest the man who had robbed four banks in the Phoenix area.

The FBI and the Phoenix Police were able to have a description of the man they were looking for and that is when they decided to set up surveillance at multiple banks.

According to the Police statement, there was a man that matched the robber’s description that caught the attention of a task-force member on Monday. He was riding his bike.

The member of the task-force had saw the man, identified him as miller then watched as he stashed his bike and then walk around downtown. He then later walked into the Comerica Bank.

The security tape showed Miller walking into the bank and he was wearing a baseball cap low to try to hide his face. He proceeded to give the teller a demanding note. He took an unknown amount of money and left the bank. The police were then able to take him into custody.

Apparently what made it so easy for Miller to get away is that he wore many layers of clothing. That way he could just strip a layer and keep going, changing his appearance and making him unnoticeable.

Los Angeles and Phoenix Police Working Together to Stop Teen-Prostitution

Federal Agents Look To Phoenix Police in Hopes to Catch Teen-Prostitution

Teen-prostitution has been on the rise for some sick reason in the last few years. Luckily the Federal Agents and Phoenix Police are searching to find those young kids and help them.

The Federal Agents think that the California man they recently arrested on child-prostitution allegations could be involved with some other underage victims. The man arrested on Monday for these charges was thirty-six year old, Laron Darrell Carter. According to the ICE statement, it took a year long investigation to finally bring him in. The search began after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were able to save a sixteen year old girl. The girl was reported missing by her family.

Phoenix Police and Federal Agents are working together to hopefully find some more information on teen-prostitution in the Valley area. According to ICE, they think there might be more victims in the Phoenix, Southern California, and Las Vegas areas thanks to the investigation that brought them to the arrest of Carter.

The affidavit that was filed in the case had stated that the young girl had told Homeland and Security investigators that “she had met Carter over the phone through a mutual acquaintance.” That is when Carter persuaded her to leave Los Angeles to meet him, he promised to be her “boyfriend” and “take care of her.”

According to the NEWS release, the 16 year old told federal investigators that after she arrived in California Carter had taken her to a local hotel that is when he then forced her into prostitution. She also said that Carter had made her pose for suggestive photos that he could post on the internet.

The investigators say that she was able to flee after a few days however without money or anywhere to stay she had to return to the hotel to Carter. He allegedly beat her upon her return.

The federal agents say that in late January 2013 that on the sixteen year old’s last night working for Carter he severely beat her by slamming her head into a car window and then forced her to “engage in a sex act with him.” The young girl went to a nail salon to stay safe and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were able to come to take her into protective custody.

The affidavit also said that the investigation had revealed that Carter had been convicted of pandering January 2013. According to the police report, he had taken a thirteen year old girl from California to Las Vegas to work as a prostitute.  It went further to say that he even used physical violence as well as wouldn’t let her sleep and have food if she failed to follow his “rules.” Carter was later released in December on parole.

 Please help stop teen-prostitution
