Phoenix Drug Smuggling

Phoenix Suspect Arrested for Drug Involvement

According to the police a suspect responsible for selling around $500,00 in drugs a month in Phoenix has been arrested as well as another man. That’s a pretty good haul in drug activity if you ask me.

The court records show that on July 28th the police raided a home near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road. They found $300,000 in cash as well as 1.5 kilograms of cocaine and almost a pound of meth. Talk about a big bust for the local police.

The police were able to arrest the two men who were apart of a five month long investigation that was titled, “CWT-466”. The first man was twenty-five year old, Victor Perez-Berrera. By the police, he is considered to be a “high ranking member of a drug organization” Which sounds pretty serious.

According to the police, the organization is responsible for selling around $6 million a year in cocaine and methamphetamine in the Phoenix metro are. Sounds like they stay pretty dang busy.

Robbery in Phoenix

A local judge gave Berrera a $100,00 cash bond on charges of conspiracy as well as money laundering and dangerous drugs for sale. The second man was arrested by the police was a forty year old man named Oscar Bailon-Aguirre.

Aguirre is in even more trouble since he’s in the United States without proper documentation. However, he told the police that if he was given the opportunity that he would never sell drugs again. Which I guess that’s good in the long run?

Aguirre was given a cash bond of $50,00 on charges of conspiracy as well as laundering and dangerous drugs for sale.

Drug Smuggling in Arizona

Ironically enough, a sixty-three year old woman with a criminal history in Arizona has been arrested for allegedly carrying cocaine and heroin in her luggage on a flight from Las Vegas to Detroit.

The Drug Enforcement Administration said that Cheryl Cheatham  was arrested at the Detroit Airport on October 14th.

The DEA agents said that they noticed her acting suspiciously near the baggage carousel. She was reportedly looking at the luggage tags “as if she did not own the luggage, for a very long period of time”.  Talk about a fishy situation, but let’s be real older people do weirder things sometimes.

The agents then followed her and watched her as she grabbed her two suitcase then as she hailed a taxi. The taxi then drove her to a hotel. However, the DEA reported that she did NOT check into the hotel which is pretty weird. Why go to a hotel if you’re not staying there? Unless you’re doing something you shouldn’t be.

The officials say that around two hours later, Cheatham then got into a waiting car along with her two suitcases.

The Michigan State Troopers were asked to do a traffic stop. They did and when they did, they had a K-9 do search the car. The K-9 dog alerted the police to the presence of drugs. Sneaky little old lady.

Narcotics Found

The search revealed two big packages. There was one bag in each suitcase. The bags were bundled in clear plastic.

According to the DEA, one of the bundles had eight individually wrapped kilograms of cocaine. The other contained 9 individually wrapped kilograms of cocaine.

Cheatham of course was then placed under arrest on a charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

The DEA report also shows that Cheatham had a previous conviction of transporting/selling a controlled substance on July 18,1986 and an arrest by United States Customs for Importing a Controlled Substance on September 29, 1972. Talk about a colorful past.

She apparently had a criminal history in Arizona as well. She was charged with shoplifting and theft there.

Public Shooting in Phoenix

Phoenix Police Officer Shoots Bystander

Shootings are dangerous and if you hear someone shooting, the best thing to do is get far away from the commotion. A Phoenix police officer accidentally shot a bystander as the officer was trying to shoot a dog that had been attacking people, including the officer.

It was four o’clock one morning when the officer was inside of the Quik Trip store which is located at 19th and Southern Avenues. While, the officer was inside a person came inside and said that a dog was outside attacking people.

The officer firstly warned the people to stay inside. However when he went outside he was witness to the dog already attacking and biting a man.

The officer tried to pull the dog off of the man, however the dog decided to bite the officer too. After that the officer fired one round.

Shots Fired in Phoenix

That single shot somehow ended up striking a fifty-three year old man, who had also been bit by the dog. The man was wounded by his foot. The beat up older man was taken to the hospital with, luckily, non-life threatening injuries.

The man and the officer had suffered from non-life threatening injuries. The dog wasn’t so lucky though. The dog ended up having to be mechanized due to his injuries.

Police said that the dog was tan and white in color. He was medium sized as well. They believe the dog was just a stray dog. They searched the dog to see if he was micro-chipped, which he was not. The dog had on a red collar, however there were no dog tags or any kind of information so that the owners could be contacted.

The dog had been seen before the biting incident. The bystander said that the dog wasn’t aggressive at that time, he was just drinking water from the windshield cleaner buckets that are found next to the gas pumps.

Former Furniture Store Operator Arrested for Homicide

Unfortunately, some homicide cases can last years. Everyone wants justice, but sometimes the evidence isn’t there. Just because it’s been put on hold for a little while, doesn’t mean that case won’t ever be solved. You never know when something will strike up an investigation again.

A man was arrested in Arizona for a homicide case that has been around for twenty-three years. The man is a furniture sales competitor. He’s wanted for the killing of a man in Ohio.

Sam Perone, is the man who was arrested for the crime. Police think that the forty-one year old, Richard Woods had been visiting the Columbus area furniture store salesman. There are reports he had been there prior to his death/disappearance.

Lt. John Faine’s Statement:

His last stop that day was at Sam Perone’s furniture store, That stop was the last time Richard was ever seen alive.

Woods was shot in the back of the head and his body was found about a month later in a wooded area near Lebanon. David Fornshell who is the Warren County Prosecutor said that the investigating officers think that Woods was shot in the back of the Perone’s store. He did however, decline to talk about a possible motive and admitted to this being a challenging case.

David Fornshell’s Statement:

Any time you try to prosecute a case that’s 23 years old, it’s a difficult process.
The police are hoping to get Perone’s removal from Phoenix, where he happened to be arrested. On a Friday, the authorities left a message for the Lebanon attorney who had previously represented Perone. The details of the murder incident weren’t immediately released by the Warren County police officials.
Sixty-seven year old Perone at first denied any involvement in Wood’s slaying. He made the decision to close the store, many years ago. However, it’s not for sure how long ago that he moved to Phoenix.
The police suggest that they used the newer forensic techniques to develope evidence.

Fornshell’s Statement:

There’s been a tremendous advance in the use of DNA technology and other types of technology over the past 10 to 15 years
It was a ironic situation that the police are calling a “coincidence” that Perone’s arrest was announced on the 23rd anniversary of Woods’ disappearance.

Long Period Of Time Passes Over Murder Case

On a Friday, a man who was living in Arizona was accused of murdering another man in Ohio over two decades ago was called to make his initial court appearance.

Sixty-seven year old, Sam Perone asked the court if he could have his extradition back to Ohio to be delayed until the end of the month so that his wife could visit him in jail.

According to the reports, Perone was advised more than once by the judge not to talk about his case due to the fact that the entire proceeding was being recorded and could and will be used in any future court proceedings that relate to his case.

Sam’s Statement:

I can’t ask the court to ask them to let my wife see me?

Perone asked the judge, this being after he made the request that his extradition be put on hold until the end of the month on October 23rd.

Judge’s Statement:

There’s nothing we can do intervene on that. This is their warrant that they’re extraditing on. So I don’t know whether they would do it in a week. I don’t know if they would do it in a month. I don’t know if they would do it tomorrow.

Sam stayed in good spirits during the request, joking with the judge about the guards wanting to take him back to Ohio on Saturday so that they wouldn’t miss a game playing later.

Sam is accused of killing a man named woods. The man was killed on October 8,1992. The mans body was later found in an Ohio ravine, at least a month after his death. The body had two gunshot wounds to the head. Woods car was located 1.5 miles away from a nearby rest area.

Police think that Sam Perone was the last person to see Woods alive. The investigators were able to re-open the case in 2006 after they found blood in some carpet however, the results were inconclusive. Last year investigators decided to give the case another try.

Homicide Cases All Throughout Phoenix

Fatal Phoenix Shootings

Crime is growing extremely fast. Instead of getting better and growing together, the country keeps getting more and more divided. While some hoped that President Trump’s presidential victory would bring the nation together for better American jobs, less crime, and less illegals it’s also brought a huge segregation against the people of the world.

In Phoenix, a one man crime spree caused havoc on Sunday night. There were two shootings, which ended in death. There was two other shootings, a pair of carjackings, a car chase as well as a self inflicted fatal gunshot wound.

James Holmes who is a Phoenix Police officer said that the Monday investigators had not came up with a motive and that the shooting seemed to be random violence. It occurred at a Motel 6 near Interstate 17  and Northern Avenue.

The suspect was identified as twenty-eight year old, Daterryn McBride. He had to be hospitalized for a gunshot wound and he later died. According to the reports, he had a criminal history.

McBride had shot and killed forty-four year old, Brian Harris as well as forty-four year old, Robert Sykes. He shot them around 10:30 p.m.  There was a clerk that was also shot and is in critical condition.

Phoenix Police Search for Suspect

McBride fled the scene on foot, but not before he shot two people who were just sitting in a pickup truck in a parking lot. The two people were able to drive to a nearby convenience store at 27th and Northern Avenues and were able to get a hold of the police. The pair was treated at the scene.

According to the report, McBride ran into an apartment complex near 27th and Northern avenues. During his flee, he took a man hostage and stole his car as the man’s wife and infant watched. McBride then fled down I-17.

Holmes Statement:

That man got in the car, allowing himself to be kidnapped and wasn’t shot. I can’t imagine the terror he felt.

The car then broke down and McBride left it and then carjacked another victim. He then crashed that car near 16th Street and University Drive in Phoenix.

Police say that McBride then got out of the car and ran into a nearby field. Once in the field, he shot himself.

Deadly Phoenix Shootings

Phoenix Shootings End Deadly

Now crime continues to grow in Phoenix and other border areas. People are scare they might be deported. The ones that aren’t scared are running illegal deals or scams across the border.

According to the Phoenix police, a twenty-two year old man is now dead. A woman is in pretty critical condition after a shooting in West Phoenix.

Police were able to detain two people from inside of a home where the shooting happened. It happened near 55th and Clarendon avenues, according to Phoenix Police spokesman, Officer James Holmes. It so sad you can’t even be home anymore without being involved in a shooting.

Police are unsure of what the man and woman might have been involved in the shooting. Holmes said that the homicide investigation is now ongoing.

Police had received a call around 4:30 in the morning about an assault at the home. There was a gunfire that broke out just as officers were heading to the scene. The officers got to the scene and found a twenty-two year old man and a woman in her twenties. They were both suffering from gunshot wounds. The man died at the scene of the incident and the woman was taken to a local hospital for being in critical condition.

Phoenix Shooting Ends Deadly for Husband and Wife

According to Officer Holmes, the man and woman was actually husband and wife.

The investigators say that the woman had been at the house when a fight started. She called her husband for him to pick her up. However, a second fight started outside of the home. When the husband arrived with two children, ages three and five there were gunshots fired. The husband and wife were both hit.

The children have been removed from the area and are both luckily safe.

Hopefully officers can find the cause of this incident and get the shooting rates down. I know they work hard to keep people safe, but Phoenix residents are scared. More and more people are arming themselves. Whether it be for self defense or to wreak havoc.

Thankfully the kids weren’t injured in this horrible incident. It’s one thing for fights to happen, but when innocent kids get involved it’s a whole other situation.

Arizona Child Cruelty Cases

Phoenix Police Detective Faces Child Abuse Charges

When you think of a police officer, you mainly think of hero. You never dream of them being involved in child abuse. However that isn’t always the case.  According to the reports a former Phoenix Police detective and his wife are now going to face charges for their connection with the death of a man’s young daughter.

The little girl, seven year old, Sanna Cunningham sadly died in Februrary 2017 however Germayn and Lis Cunningham weren’t indicted on the child abuse charges until several months later. On January 2nd they were finally arraigned on those charges.

In Court, thirty-seven year old Germayne, pleaded not guilty to a count of First Degree Murder as well as 11 counts of Felony Child Abuse. Lisa had a hard time breathing so couldn’t make the arraignment due to being taken to the local hospital. The arraignment was postponed by a judge.

Prosecutors asked that Cunningham be taken into custody and held on a $1 million bond.

Prosecutor Joshua Clark’s Statement:

There has been information circulated that he cashed out his retirement, meaning he has the means to flee or leave the state.

The judge had other plans though, Cunningham could remain a free man but must wear a tracking monitor.

The Goodyear Police continued to investigate the case and found that Germayne and stepmother Lisa had abused and neglected the child since at least June 2016. The Court documents showed that they allegedly forced the young girl to sleep outside and restrained her with zip ties. They even locked her in the garage and laundry room.

According to The Department of Child Safety, there were multiple visits made to the family’s home over the last several months however there wasn’t ever enough evidence to justify taking Sanna from the home.

However, the Cunninghams are being indicted by a grand jury on 10 counts of child abuse and one first degree murder charge.

Germanyne Cunningham was with the Phoenix Police Department for 12 years before he resigned in September. It’s not known if the Goodyear Police investigation into his daughter’s death had anything to do with why he left the force.

Couple Arrested for Child Abuse Case

How can anyone willingly hurt a anyone let alone an innocent child? As a parent this is one of the most unthinkable things.

Now a Lake Havasu City man has been arrested and charged with child abuse after a two year old girl had to be hospitalized due to life threatening injuries.

Police and fire crews had to respond to a report of a female child who wasn’t breathing. This happened in the 2800 block of Appletree Drive. The little girl was immediately transported to the local hospital. Officials said that based on the circumstances and at first observations that the detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit started an investigation.

Police say that the girl’s father, twenty-one year old, Andrew J. Lamorie was charged with child abuse per domestic violence, aggravated assault per domestic violence, child neglect, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sounds like he’ll be spending some time in jail.

The poor child remains in critical condition and is struggling with his or her life threatening injuries.

Cover Up Abuse

The daycare owner at the center of a child abuse cover-up at his Phoenix facility was sentenced in court on Tuesday.

Ruben Sandoval served two days in jail prior to sentencing and will not get any additional jail time if he completes a year of probation and pays a $950 fine. He is also required to complete 130 hours of community service.

Sandoval owns Brighter Angels Learning Center near Central Avenue and Baseline Road, as well as several other locations around the state.

Man Convicted of Child Abuse

He was convicted of covering up child abuse after a 21-month-old boy was smacked in the face with a broomstick by an employee back in February. He was also accused of seeing surveillance video of the multiple strikes. But, Sandoval allegedly told the employee to not talk to police and drafted a note to the victim’s mother saying the boy tripped and fell instead.

Three employees, including Sandoval were convicted of abuse or covering up abuse.

However, the Arizona Department of Health Services decided the facility was able to stay open. This also comes after ABC15 uncovered more than 35 additional citations that were handed down to the daycare since the abuse occurred.

Sandoval is also still able to run all the facilities in the state, despite his conviction in Phoenix City Court.

Toddler Who Was Abused Has Now Passed Away

According to court documents, the doctors at a Valley hospital found that a little four year old girl suffered severe brain and spinal injuries and signs of sexual abuse.

Sadly the little girl died just a few days later.

Police said that twenty-four year old, Major Aaron Murry admitted to striking the little girl after she spilled some milk. At the time of the initial hearing the Judge said that the little girl may or may not survive her horrible injuries.

Initial reports say that Murry was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of child abuse.

Babysitter Child Abuse

Murry was trusted to watch over the little girl while her mother was at work. However that didn’t work out so well for the poor child. Murry admitted to becoming angry at the girl and then hitting her when she spilled milk near his Xbox video game system. The hit caused her to fall and hit her head.

The court documents say that Murry went to lay the girl down for a nap and when he later checked on her she was unresponsive. He told the police he tried to revive her.

According to the Doctor reports the girl had bruising on her ear, forehead and face and other injuries to her little spine.

Armed Robbery in Phoenix

Phoenix Armed Robbery Suspect Caught

Phoenix always suffers with criminal activity due to its proximity to the border. It seems like there’s never a lack in shootings, stabbings, or armed robberies in the area.

Now citizens are being thanked for their major part in capturing a man that was involved in the armed robbery of a Phoenix cell phone store. According to the Phoenix Police report, on January 8th there were three men with masks who entered into a cell phone store which was located near 32nd Street and Thomas Road.

One of the men was armed with a handgun and the other had a can of pepper spray. Kind of an odd choice of weapon, but whatever works for them.

Police say that the suspect pepper sprayed five people with the pepper spray inside of the store, one of those were customers. Two of the employees were pistol-whipped as they were ordered to open the safe.

According to the reports, another victim was reportedly bitten by a suspect. The trio allegedly stole a backpack with a computer inside and filled it with money. According to the reports they got around $1,000 and some cell phones. Sounds like it wasn’t worth the trouble.

Police Chase Robbery Suspect

A GPS tracker was activated after the men left and the police tracked the suspects to the 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The men ran from the car and then split up.

One of the suspects, twenty-four year old, Vinchar Vincient Lemuel reportedly tried to break into several nearby apartments. Citizens at the complex were able to capture Lemuel and hold him for the police. Talk about a lucky situation for the police. The backpack was found nearby with the money still inside of the backpack.

Lemuel has been charged with armed robbery.

Knife Armed Robbery in Phoenix

Robbing a business with a knife wouldn’t be a smart thing unless you immediately get a hostage, however you never know. Recently a man walked into a 7-Eleven at 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road with a VERY big knife to rob the place. This happened on December 17th at 6 p.m.

From the surveillance video you can see the suspect making his way through the store and straight to the cashier. This is when he brandished the butcher knife, threatening the clerk to cut them if he didn’t get cash. The suspect then put down the knife and counted through the cash before strolling out the door.

The police say that the suspect is described as a white man around 30-40 years old. He’s around 5 foot 10 inches tall and is heavy set with a beard. Police are asking that if you have any information about this incident or the man then please call Silent Witness. They really want this guy behind bars for this armed robbery.

Search For Armed Robbery Suspect

Another day, another robbery at good ol’ Phoenix. This time an unidentified man is at large after he robbed and sadly shot a man late Friday in Phoenix.

Police were called to the scene around ten o’clock that night due to reports of shots being fired in the area of 4700 North 17th Avenue in Phoenix. According to Detective Marianne Ramirez this is near the intersection of West Highland Avenue.

The local witnesses told the police that they had seen a man confront another man.

Ramirez Statement:

The victim was robbed and then shot by the suspect.

The victim was treated then transported to the local hospital for his luckily non life threatening gunshot wound. The shooter of course fled the area and is now at large. Police do not have a description of the suspect at this time.
