Police Find Suspect in Deadly Armed Robbery

Police Identify the Robbery Shooter and Victim

On Tuesday night things got deadly dangerous when a shooting happened in East Phoenix. The police have now been able to identify the victim in the shooting.  The Police officers say that the had to respond to a call about an armed robbery around eight o’clock in the evening at 52nd and Van Buren streets.

The police found a female victim when they got to the scene. The victim told the Phoenix Officers that she had been on her cell phone outside of her apartment building when the suspect pulled out a gun and then pointed it at her while demanding her money. The suspect was a twenty-one year old male. When she told the suspect that she did not have any money things got even scarier for the victim. The suspect then pointed a gun at her and demanded that she take off her clothes and he also tried to get her to go back into her apartment. However, according to the police, the young woman used her brain. She was able to stall by fumbling with the lock. That luckily gave her enough time to get into her apartment and she was then able to lock herself inside and away from him. She then immediately called the police.

When the responding police officers came to the robbery scene they could hear gunshots being fired. They found a gunshot victim at the scene. The gunshot victim died at the scene, he was twenty-one year old Juan Guerava-Martinez. Eye witnesses told the investigators that Juan was on his cell phone outside when he was shot. Juan was able to make it back to his apartment and then sadly collapsed.

The witnesses say that they did see the male gun shooting suspect take off running northbound from the scene, he still had his gun at the time. Luckily the local authorities were able to bring him into custody not long after the shooting. He was caught as he was trying to run down an alley. The Police were able to positively identify the suspect as well as the weapon used in both cases. The male suspect told the officer that he had been on a methamphetamine binge and had been high/using meth for around five days then. Officers brought him in and he was charged and jailed on first-degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, armed robbery, as well as possession of a dangerous drug.

Phoenix Woman Accused of Abusing Her Son

Woman Accused of Abusing Her Two Year Old Son

When you have a child, most people want to protect them and keep them from harm. How a woman could abuse her own son is beyond me. I can’t understand how anyone would harm a child, let alone your own flesh and blood.

A woman from Phoenix has now been accused of abusing her two year old son. She has pleaded no contest to the child abuse or the sexual misconduct with a minor charge. Seriously? That poor baby. You wouldn’t think a mother could do that to her own son. You usually have to worry about predators outside of the house, not in.

Woman Being Sentenced for Abusing Her Son

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the mother, Rickesha Jovani Burns, twenty-two years old, has entered her plea on Friday. Burns is set to be sentenced on December Third of this year.

The Phoenix Police were called to the home in March 24, 2013. They found the suspect, Rickesha Burns holding her young son. The police say that the little boy was crying and bleeding. They immediately transported her son to the hospital in Phoenix. Burns told the police that her young son had been playing with a twelve year old little boy at the park that day. She claims the twelve year old had done something to her son.

The doctors said that her son had injuries around his rectal area, he even had to have surgery to remove a foreign object. That literally had me crying writing that. Who would be so sick to do that to anyone, let alone a little baby. I hope they find justice for this poor child.  Phoenix Police say that the didn’t find any evidence that a child had assaulted her son at the park.

Two Young People Wounded in Officer Involved Shooting

12 Year Old and 18 Year Old Injured in Officer Involved Shooting

According to the local authorities, a twelve year old girl and an eighteen year old young man have both been wounded in an “officer-involved” shooting. The shooting happened at a North Phoenix Home.

The police say that the incident had started on a Tuesday afternoon. This started after the fourteen year old girl called the police. She claimed that she had felt threatened by an eighteen year old young man that she met online. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

The police said that the girl had told the officers that the two weren’t together anymore, she got scared after the man had left some gifts for her on the doorstep of her home. The home was near Tatum and Deer Valley Road.

Teens Meet Online And Things Escalate to a Shooting

The police officers had gotten a call saying that there was a man with a gun in the neighborhood. When Police got there, the person with a gun turned out to be the eighteen year old that the girl had called to report just that morning.

When the police got to the scene, they told the man to put the gun down. Being eighteen and sounds a little crazy, he refused. The Police say that the man had started to go into the fourteen year old girls home, that is when the officers had to shoot him.

Some time during the shooting, the man’s gun had went off. It hit the girl’s little sister who is only twelve years old. The twelve year old is luckily in stable condition and is still at the hospital. However, the eighteen year old boy is in pretty serious condition at this time. No officers were injured during the shooting. Police have not released the names of those injured at this time.

Twenty-nine year old, Kevin Holsome is the suspected dentition officer. He has been charged with participating in a criminal street gang.

purposely open his cell as well as other cells housing [the inmate’s] gang associates in order to assault

According to the Mesa police, they are now investigating a possible kidnapping that happened early Saturday. According to the police press release the victim was in a parking lot of a Circle K which is near Southern Avenue and Horne. This was around one o’clock in the morning. It appeared that the young male was talking on his phone for a few moments before he started walking northbound.

The suspected vehicle was reportedly seen coming into the parking lot from the East, then the vehicle all of a suddenly stopped for a moment. Police say that the suspect vehicle lights were then turned off. It appeared as if whoever was in the vehicle was watching the male victim. The vehicle then drove over to where the victim was in the parking lot at the east end exit.

Group Possibly Kidnapped Young Male

Police say that four or maybe five suspects had gotten out of the vehicle then forcible “abducted the victim”. They then put him in the back of the vehicle. The vehicle was later found abandoned on southbound on Horne. Police have said that there haven’t been any reports of a missing person at this time however they just want to check and make sure that the victim is okay.

Man Sentenced for 62 Years in Prison for 2013 Shooting

Man Shoots Phoenix Officer and Sentenced for 62 Years

A convicted felon has now been sentenced to sixty-two years in prison for the 2013 shooting that had wounded a Phoenix Police Officer. These police officers put their life on the line to keep our lives safe, so I’m glad this officer will get some peace knowing that his shooter is facing the consequences. Not often enough, do the victims get to see justice from the suspects. This was a win for all wounded police officers.

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the shooter, Brandon McCabe was sentenced on Thursday to an “aggravated term”.  He had been convicted back in August for attempted first-degree murder as well as: aggravated assault, criminal trespassing, misconduct involving weapons, and resisting arrest.  Quite a colorful past for our shooter.

McCabe Has Criminal Past

On January 6, 2013 Brandon McCabe was accused of shooting Police Officer, Peter “Chris” Bennett on that January night.  Luckily thirty-six year old Officer Bennett survived his gunshot wounds. He suffered injuries to his face, right hip, and right arm. Apparently Officer Bennett survived the wounds. He approached the shooter, McCabe in an area which has a pretty high burglary rate.

Brandon had ignored the Officer’s command and then the two then exchanged gunfire. McCabe was then arrested after he was found hiding in a nearby shed, like a little coward. He also had some gunshot wounds to both of his hands. Sounds like it would have been a crazy gun shoot out.

Hopefully less officers are injured keeping our streets safe. They work hard all year round with many hours, they definitely do not get paid enough. Let’s hope Officer Bennett’s recovery goes well and he’s back to being himself.  We need more police and more citizens like Officer Bennett and less people like McCabe in this crazy world.
