Multiple Suspects in Phoenix Homicide Case

Phoenix Liquor Store Shooting

Good ol Phoenix. Never boring that’s for sure. With Phoenix being so close to the border it’s a hot spot for growth but also criminal activity. Families want to move there to be closer to those who are waiting to be deported or have been newly deported and are working on becoming United States citizens.

Now two men will face charges for their connection for a shooting and the death of two men outside of a Phoenix liquor store back in April.

Both are relatively young suspects, twenty-four year old Kevin Dara Chheng and twenty-six year old Solomon Isaiah Banks were both arrested on suspicion of first degree murder charges.

According to the reports, the liquor store was located at 3502 W. Greenway Road.  The reports also said that both of the men had participated in the shootings that ended two men’s lives. However, there were other men with the two suspects.

It’s unclear what actually caused the shootings, however witness statements and video surveillance led the police to the two suspects.

Now the two men are going to face two counts of first degree murder. Banks will also face an additional charge of “hindering an investigation”. Chheng is going to face an aggravated assault charge. Things must have gotten pretty heated during the arrest.

Three People Arrested for Phoenix Murder

It’s kind of scary what this world is coming to. Another day, another robbery. Another day, another shooting. There’s always more and more crime and people dying.

Sadly a thirty-eight year old man has lost his life due to a shooting.

Three people have been arrested in connection for the killing of the thirty-eight year old man.

The suspects are: thirty-three year old- Crystal Amy Allison, twenty-six year old- Anthony Elias Thomas, and thirty-five year old- Luis Carlos Urias. They are being investigated for first degree murder, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a dangerous drug for sale.  Quite a little list they have for themselves.

Suspects Arrested for Shooting

The three of them were arrested for the killing of thirty-eight year old, Roberto Silva-Perez aka Victor Cuadral and Jose Ramirez-Adriano.

The three suspects were arrested after the police found the man who they later identified as Silva-Perez. He had gunshot wounds and was found inside of a vehicle that was near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road. This happened just before midnight on Friday.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

The police of course obtained the suspect vehicle description from local witnesses from there they followed it southbound where they suspects tried to flee on foot.

The three suspects tried to get rid of a gun as well as drugs as they ran on foot but the police were able to capture them not long after the chase began.

According to the police, the shooting might have happened due to a drug deal.

Double Shooting in Phoenix

North Phoenix is a happening place. Sadly two men have lost their life due to a double shooting in North Phoenix.  Now the two men that was involved in the April shooting have finally been arrested.

The Phoenix police said that on April 26th two men were shot and killed outside of a liquor store. This happened near Greenway Road.

The police say that twenty-four year old and Twenty-five year old had “sought” out the two victims to assault or to kill them. Both of the shooting victims were thirty-two year old men.

Hiring the Right Homicide Lawyer in Phoenix

Having a skilled homicide defense attorney is important in any criminal case, but it is even more critical in a murder case. To properly defend a client against a murder charge, a defense lawyer must be prepared to effectively challenge the prosecution’s evidence. To do so, a Phoenix Murder Defense Attorney must be prepared to effectively cross-examine the prosecution’s witnesses, including any expert witnesses.

Expert Witnesses

In some cases, a Phoenix Homicide Defense Attorney may need to use expert witnesses on behalf of the defendant to challenge forensic evidence, ballistics evidence and other scientific evidence presented by the prosecution. We are prepared to do so and have worked with expert witnesses in the past to provide a vigorous defense on our clients’ behalf.

In addition to fighting your charges at trial (or seeking a case dismissal for lack of probable cause), we can also negotiate with the prosecution to seek a favorable plea agreement. A plea agreement might involve a plea to a lesser offense or an agreement on sentencing that will significantly reduce the penalties you face.

Homicide Defense Strategy

We will take the time to talk to witnesses, investigate what really happened in your case, understand what evidence is in the prosecution’s possession, look for holes in the prosecution’s case, and determine if the police violated your constitutional rights or made other critical errors that can be used to your advantage.

  • Self-Defense

Homicide in Phoenix Area

Phoenix Shooting Involving an Officer

Being an officer in the Phoenix area isn’t an easy task, especially when it comes to shootings and homicide cases. No way would I want that job. I definitley admire them for their hard work, at least the ones who truly do things the right way.

According to reports, on Monday a woman in Phoenix was armed and ready for battle. She was loaded with a gun and suspected of fatally shooting a man in central Phoenix. She was later shot and killed by an officer.

The reports show that the woman was only in her twenties, and was shot at the Japanese Friendship Garden in downtown Phoenix.

According to Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis, the responding officers were responding to a homicide scene in an apartment near Central and Minnezona avenues.  That happened around 12:15 p.m. which is a rather odd time for a homicide. When they got to the scene they saw a middle age man with several gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the local hospital, however he was later reported dead.

Sgt. Lewis said that the Officers were able to identify the suspect as a female who was recently seen leaving the scene in a dark blue Jaguar. The vehicle had an Arkansas license plate.

Not long after the shooting happened the woman had visited a restaurant near Central Avenue and Portland Street for several hours. She then left the restaurant and the police got a tip about an armed woman that had matched the suspects description.

Homicide Suspect

An officer then found the woman at the local Japanese Friendship Garden and proceeded to request backup.  They tried to “communicate and begin negotiations” with her but that doesn’t always work.

Lewis’ Statement:

Several non-lethal, less-lethal tools and tactics were brought to the scene with the goal of continuing that contact with her.

The woman then went a little crazy and started to say she was going to shoot her self with a handgun. An experienced Officer on the scene then had no other choice than to take the lead and to fire his weapon at the woman. Others then began life saving efforts. She was quickly transported to the hospital but despite everyone’s best efforts she succumbed to her injures.

Sometimes, officers have to make that impossible choice and then they have to live with that decision the rest of their lives. Hopefully, this officer can live with his.

Serious Child Abuse Cases in Phoenix

Arizona Woman Convicted for Child Abuse

So as a child everyone remembers the fun of playing in a plastic container or cardboard box. However, for one innocent child, it didn’t turn out so fun.

An Arizona woman is being convicted of first degree murder for the death of her ten year old cousin. Her ten year old little cousin was locked in a small plastic storage box, in deadly hot heat.

Twenty-eight year old, Sammantha Allen has been accused and convicted of helping her husband, lock he cousin, Ame Deal in a box. The box was left outside overnight. This was used as a sick punishment against the poor child.

The bin only had small air holes near the handles. The prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the woman. The penalty part of the trial will begin next week.

According to reports, the young child was suffocated and found dead the next day. The temperatures had surpassed 100 degrees.

Child Abuse

The female was also found guilty of three counts of child abuse as well as conspiracy to commit child abuse. As if this isn’t one of the saddest things you’ve ever heard, wait until you hear why the child was being punished. The child was put in the burning box because she stole and ate a popsicle.

When the young girls body was found, they family said that she had “hidden” in there as they were playing a late night game of hide and seek.

According to reports, this was a form of punishment that was done regularly done by the request of the legal guardian of the girl, Cynthia Stoltzmann.

Apparently the child had a long life of child abuse in her short life. Not just by one relative either, apparently several. The young girl has lived with at least ten adults and children.

Three other relatives have also been convicted of abusing the little girl. They are already serving time in prison.

The girl’s father, David Deal had previously pleaded guilty for attempted child abused and was sentenced to jailed. Stoltzmann was also sentenced to twenty-five years in prison for attempted child abuse.

In 2011 there were reports that the little girl had lived in a house of “horrors”. Police reported that the adults that were supposed to take care of her were actually making her sleep on the floor of the shower stall! They even put hot sauce in her mouth when she lied. They sadly locked in her in an airtight chest as a punishment. What kind of sick family did this little girl live with? So sad that they couldn’t help her.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump’s Statement:

I don’t think that a crime could be more unspeakable.

Phoenix Domestic Violence Lawyer

Criminal Defense Cases

The highly skilled Attorneys at Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC advise and represent people facing criminal charges for domestic violence often described as Spousal Abuse, Spousal Battery or Domestic Dispute, such charges do not always reflect a case between married people, but include those living in the same location (cohabitation), or sometimes just engaged in a domestic (dating) relationship.  Such cases can also lead to violation of a restraining order or protective orders.  They are NOT the same as a Domestic Violence Restraining Order however.

With a team of former prosecutors, Phoenix based Criminal Defense Attorneys at Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC offer a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system. They understand the necessary steps to take in developing an aggressive defense strategy focused on securing a dismissal or minimizing any potential penalties associated with a conviction.

Domestic Violence cases have become extremely political and are regularly treated as “guilty until proven innocent.”   Even with minor cases, that do not involve a documented injury, proactive and rapid action by a caring defense attorney may be they key to not only avoiding a damaging no contact order, but may play a significant role in custody issues and an eventual resolution in the case that does not result in a life-time ban on the possession of firearms, tragic orders separating you from your family and other consequences that can interfere with work, school and life.

At the Law Offices of Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC, we are committed to helping you achieve a resolution to your immediate problems, while seeking opportunities to improve the troubled family dynamics that might be underlying factors.

In domestic violence cases, the district attorney and the judge will be especially interested in what you’re willing to do to improve relationships, conflict resolution skills, and anger management. Your demonstration toward positive change will often make the difference in the outcome of your case. We work closely with people charged with domestic assault or battery to obtain a dismissal, diversion to community treatment or deferred entry of judgment prior to eventually achieving a dismissal.

Police Investigate Phoenix Stabbings

Phoenix Stabbings

Phoenix has been overran by shootings and stabbings lately. Police have definitely stayed pretty busy. According to details recently released, there was a murder in north Phoenix. The body was found by a person passing by.

The police report shows that on June 3rd a person passing by saw a man who was unresponsive. This was in a parking lot near Pinnacle Peak and Cave Creek roads.  Can’t imagine how scary that would have been for the person just innocently passing by.

The victim was later identified as, Evin Ibrahim Paulos. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. According to the police, Paulos had around 30 stab wounds. Talk about a horrible ending to his life.

The police has been able to identify a suspect in this case, however they are not releasing his name due to investigative purposes.

Investigating Stabbings

The Phoenix Police investigated the scene. Their report says that the suspect and the victim knew each other since the suspect moved to Arizona. Apparently he was a part of a drug and gang culture. He came to Arizona to try to get away from it. The suspect was described as “inappropriate and aggressive”.

Local witnesses say that the victim and suspect had had their differences before and had “sought to fight it out”.  Apparently on June 2nd, the two did actually fight. They fought by the lights from the headlights. The suspect even had the fight recorded on video. After the fight, the victim had went home and told his family that they had worked things out and were still friends.

Police found out that the next day the suspect went over to Paulos’ home in the morning. Paulos was going to take a trip with the suspect. That was the last time that Paulos was seen alive.

A family member contacted the suspect, he told them that the Paulos had jumped out of the vehicle, just down the street from his home and he kept driving. Crazy story, why would Paulos jump out of a vehicle if the two were on good terms?

The suspect is being hunted by the fugitive task force. He or she has already been charged with second degree murder.

Fatal Stabbing Kills a Woman

Sadly, domestic violence can lead to death. When things get bad enough for the cops to be called, it’s probably time to go your separate ways for the health of all of those involved. Sometimes, on very rare occasion, the victim in a domestic dispute gets away from their vindictive life and has a great new start, however that wasn’t the case when a woman was fatally stabbed.

In south Phoenix a woman sadly got stabbed during a domestic dispute. Police said that they responded to a report of a family fight around eleven o’clock in the morning. The home was located near 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road.

Police Identified Stabbing Victim

The police were able to find and identify a sixty year old woman named Mercy Gomez. Gomez was stabbed and later died at a nearby hospital.

Olanzo Gomez is forty-two years old and is accused of stabbing his mother to death. How tragic is it that a son stabbed the woman who gave him life?

Olanzo was detained and will face one count of first degree murder, as well as three counts of aggravated assault.

Phoenix Spousal and Child Abuse

Police Lt. Suspended After Domestic Abuse Charges

Any kind of abuse is very hard on whoever is the victim. No one deserves to be abused whether it’s physical or verbal abuse, none of it is okay.

A Phoenix police lieutenant is not above the law. He is now suspended from his post after being accused of not reporting an domestic violence incident. Why would he do that? Well the charges would have been against his former subordinates.

Last fall, Sgt. Leroy Potter’s girlfriend approached Lt. Brian Thatcher and told him about an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred between the couple.

Thatcher did not launch an internal investigation in a timely matter and has since been placed on a 120-hour suspension without pay.

During an investigation into the alleged domestic violence-related incident, Potter was placed in a non-enforcement position but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against him on Wednesday.

No additional information was released about Thatcher’s suspension or the alleged domestic violence.

Potter has since retired from the Phoenix Police Department.

Phoenix Officer Arrested for Domestic Violence

A Phoenix police officer arrested for domestic violence two years ago is in trouble again — and this time it is costing him his job.

Nevin Brenner retired Friday, in lieu of being fired, after failing a drug test. Sources say Brenner claims his ex-girlfriend secretly fed him drugs while they were in Mexico. That same girlfriend accused him of domestic violence in 2014 while the couple was in Sedona.

Brenner was arrested and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He received a 24-hour suspension after an internal investigation. He then returned to work but was moved out of the domestic violence unit in which he was assigned.

Brenner, of Litchfield Park, was accused of shoving his then-girlfriend out the door of the Olde Sedona Bar & Grille and then forcefully pulling her by her arm out to the parking lot, according to Sedona Police Cmdr. Marlayne Hatler.

Police said Brenner was yelling at her and cursing before they got into a vehicle and left.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description at a local hotel.

The latest investigation occurred a few months shy of Brenner’s 20-year anniversary with the department. To be retirement eligible, Brenner had to buy back prior military time to reach the 20-year mark.

Brenner is not under criminal investigation for the incident that forced him into retirement.

Phoenix Drug Transactions Gone Wrong

Phoenix Dad Shot During Drug Trade

Police are investigating a shooting in west Phoenix that left one man in extremely critical condition.

Police were called to the area of 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 7 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports about the shooting.

Witnesses told authorities that a man and his adult son went to the home to meet with three men, police said. They were involved in a drug transaction, police said.

The victim was shot shortly after arriving at the home during a verbal argument, police said. The son was not injured, however another individual assaulted the man’s son who was able to run away. The man suffered extremely critical injuries from his gunshot wound and passed away at the hospital.

Shooting Suspect Flees Scene

The suspects fled the area after the shooting, police said. A description of the trio is unavailable.

Police are investigating and are urging anyone with information to contact Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS or the Phoenix Police Department. Stay with ABC15 News and abc15.com for the latest updates.

Phoenix Shooting Victim ID

Phoenix have identified a man fatally shot inside a gasoline station bathroom as 42-year-old Mario Ramos.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune says the Thursday afternoon incident of a QuikTrip at Camelback Road and 27th Avenue remains under investigation.

Fortune says witnesses reported seeing and hearing a fight between two men in the bathroom.

As the two were fighting in the bathroom, police say one man shot the other.

Police say the alleged shooter told officers that the other man was physically assaulting him and he fired in self-defense.

18 Year Old Shot

A 18-year-old man is dead after he was shot walking home from getting snacks at a local gas station, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

It happened on the corner of 27th Avenue and Butler Drive around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The teen reportedly was walking home with some food he got at a nearby gas station when he was shot. Police found him in a parking lot.

“The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” a police statement said. “We are currently looking for suspects involved in the shooting.”

Phoenix police are asking the public to call the department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS if they know anything about the shooting.

Phoenix Man Suspect in Phoenix Shootings

An Arizona man has been accused of a string of shootings that left seven people dead and terrified the Phoenix area.

Authorities said Monday that Aaron Saucedo, 23, was already in custody — arrested in April — for a 2015 killing. He now faces another 26 charges after being identified as the “serial shooter” who targeted victims over a four-month span starting last March.

“Our officers did not rest,” Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said at a Monday press conference. “Investigators worked every lead, they followed the evidence. They were thorough. They had a clear mission: Bring this killer to justice and get it right.”

Saucedo, a former bus driver for the city of Phoenix, was thought to have killed seven people and wounded two others, though police now say his first victim was his mother’s boyfriend, Raul Romero. He was killed in August 2015.

Saucedo faces multiple counts of homicide, assault and drive-by shooting.

While the suspect knew Romero, 61, police believe Saucedo shot his victims at random.

Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams told reporters that “tips from within our own community led us to a possible suspect” and praised the work of her officers.

Party Shooting

Phoenix police say one man is dead and another wounded following a shooting early Friday morning at a large party held in a parking lot in downtown Phoenix.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl says callers reported hearing approximately 20 shots and that the wounded man’s injury isn’t life-threatening.

Pfohl also says people were leaving the area when officers arrived and that potential witnesses at the site several blocks south of Chase Field were uncooperative with police.

Media outlets reported that the party was a fish fry sponsored by a motorcycle club with about 1,000 people in attendance.
