Phoenix Woman Accused of Abusing Her Son

Woman Accused of Abusing Her Two Year Old Son

When you have a child, most people want to protect them and keep them from harm. How a woman could abuse her own son is beyond me. I can’t understand how anyone would harm a child, let alone your own flesh and blood.

A woman from Phoenix has now been accused of abusing her two year old son. She has pleaded no contest to the child abuse or the sexual misconduct with a minor charge. Seriously? That poor baby. You wouldn’t think a mother could do that to her own son. You usually have to worry about predators outside of the house, not in.

Woman Being Sentenced for Abusing Her Son

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the mother, Rickesha Jovani Burns, twenty-two years old, has entered her plea on Friday. Burns is set to be sentenced on December Third of this year.

The Phoenix Police were called to the home in March 24, 2013. They found the suspect, Rickesha Burns holding her young son. The police say that the little boy was crying and bleeding. They immediately transported her son to the hospital in Phoenix. Burns told the police that her young son had been playing with a twelve year old little boy at the park that day. She claims the twelve year old had done something to her son.

The doctors said that her son had injuries around his rectal area, he even had to have surgery to remove a foreign object. That literally had me crying writing that. Who would be so sick to do that to anyone, let alone a little baby. I hope they find justice for this poor child.  Phoenix Police say that the didn’t find any evidence that a child had assaulted her son at the park.

Man Accused of Assaulting Police Officer Arrested

Man Who Assaulted An Officer Finally Arrested

Today a man who reportedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic stop in November has finally been arrested in Phoenix.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and Phoenix police officers were able to bring in the suspect, Emeterio Zaragoza Jr. at 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street. According from the press release from the U.S. Marshals, Mr. Zaragoza had been stopped by two Phoenix Police officer for  a traffic violation last month on November 5th.

Police Officer Assaulted During Traffic Stop

During a “records” check on one of the passengers during the stop, the police had found out that the passenger had an outstanding arrest warrant. One of the officers had removed the passenger from the car so that the other officer could question Zaragoza. Mr. Zaragoza then became increasingly irritated then even tried to flee the scene as he was in the vehicle.

The officer then tried to remove Mr. Zaragoza from the vehicle, Zaragoza began to strike the officer with his fist. The officer was dragged a few feet before Zaragoza sped away from the scene. The officer who suffered from the assault, suffered from several of cuts.

Police say that at the time of the incident, Zaragoza was actually serving a term of probation for a weapons misconduct. Probably not the smartest decision to assault an officer then try to flee the scene then. Zaragoza has a criminal history though, which include: arrests for vehicle theft as well as resisting arrest.

After the incident, the Phoenix Police got some help from the U.S. Marshals to help in locating Zaragoza. Luckily on Friday they got the information that Zaragoza was at an apartment complex and the deputies were able to set up surveillance on Zaragoza’s vehicle.

After the vehicle left the apartment complex, the authorities followed the vehicle. He was later caught and booked into jail on charges for aggravated assault of a police officer, probation violation, unlawful flight from law enforcement, failure to appear, and two counts of driving on a suspended license.

The police also said that one of the suspects had thrown her boots and cell phone out the window of their car after they had assaulted her.

Neighbor to the Suspects, Dustin Scheas Statment:

I’m appalled. Coming from a man who has sisters, has a daughter. What he did was to someone’s daughter, and it’s disgusting. They have no respect for life clearly.
