Two Young People Wounded in Officer Involved Shooting

12 Year Old and 18 Year Old Injured in Officer Involved Shooting

According to the local authorities, a twelve year old girl and an eighteen year old young man have both been wounded in an “officer-involved” shooting. The shooting happened at a North Phoenix Home.

The police say that the incident had started on a Tuesday afternoon. This started after the fourteen year old girl called the police. She claimed that she had felt threatened by an eighteen year old young man that she met online. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

The police said that the girl had told the officers that the two weren’t together anymore, she got scared after the man had left some gifts for her on the doorstep of her home. The home was near Tatum and Deer Valley Road.

Teens Meet Online And Things Escalate to a Shooting

The police officers had gotten a call saying that there was a man with a gun in the neighborhood. When Police got there, the person with a gun turned out to be the eighteen year old that the girl had called to report just that morning.

When the police got to the scene, they told the man to put the gun down. Being eighteen and sounds a little crazy, he refused. The Police say that the man had started to go into the fourteen year old girls home, that is when the officers had to shoot him.

Some time during the shooting, the man’s gun had went off. It hit the girl’s little sister who is only twelve years old. The twelve year old is luckily in stable condition and is still at the hospital. However, the eighteen year old boy is in pretty serious condition at this time. No officers were injured during the shooting. Police have not released the names of those injured at this time.

Phoenix Car Wash Shooting Leaves One Dead

According to the Police, a suspect shot a man at a car wash in Phoenix and then had a seat on the ground nearby the incident. James Holmes who is a spokesman with the Phoenix Police said that the victim was a male. He was at a car wash that was near 3rd Street and McDowell Road on Sunday. The shooting happened around two, thirty in the evening. The suspect just walked up to the victim and shot him.

Mr. Holmes said that the suspect had walked only a short distance from the scene and then sat down under a tree while holding his weapon. The responding officers were luckily able to convince him to give him self up after some negotiations. Holmes also stated that the victim had died from his gunshot injuries. A police lieutenant who was at the scene told the local news that the suspect and the victim were related.

 Police Investigate Car Wash Shooting

The police were able to identify the victim. The Phoenix Police say that the victim was a fifty-four year old man named David Pacheco-Chavez. The car was that he was shot and killed at was the Los Olivos Car Wash.

Man Identifies Man Killed in Police Officer Shooting

Police Investigate Mans Death Involved with Officer Shooting

On Tuesday the police were able to identify a man who was killed in an officer involved shooting. The shooting happened around six o’clock in the evening, near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road at an apartment complex.

The Phoenix Police stated that the officer who was involved in the complex related shooting was actually at an unrelated call when he got another call about a drug deal happening nearby in an alleged Cadillac Escalade. The police say that when the officer approached the Escalade there were two men inside. The driver of the vehicle (thirty-four year old, Rumain Brisbon) got out of the vehicle and then went into the backseat of the SUV. Then he proceeded to remove something.

Officer Investigates Drug Call Before Shooting Starts

The officer then gave the driver several commands to show whatever was in his hands before he put one or maybe both of his hands near his waistband. That is when the officer drew his weapon and flashed the suspect with the flashlight.

Of course the suspect decides to run to a corridor towards the nearby apartments. The officer chased the male suspect. The officer finally catches up to the suspect and tried to detain him. The officer orders Brisbon to the ground but of course Brisbon didn’t listen. Witness say that the suspect began yelling obscenities at the officer and wouldn’t listen to the officer’s commands. The officer approached Brisbon and Brisbon again put his hand in his pocket. The officer warned Brisbon to keep his hand in his pocket. The officer believed that he had felt a handle of a gun in the suspects pocket so he tried to keep his hand there.

The suspect again refused to listen to the officer. What the officer actually found in the man’s pocket was a bottle of pills. There was a struggle at the apartments then that is when the officer shot after he had felt threatened. The officers immediately rushed to the victim and tried to save him by doing CPR. Firefighters came to the scene and pronounced Brisbon dead.

No officers were injured at the scene. The officer who had shot Brisbon was a thirty year old male who is a seven year veteran of the department.

Witness Statement:

I was right there on the street walking to that side when everything started going on, so that’s when I heard, saw everything, and they’re trying to give him CPR, and all that stuff, and I guess he didn’t make it.

The shooting happened around two, thirty in the evening. The suspect just walked up to the victim and shot him.

A police lieutenant who was at the scene told the local news that the suspect and the victim were related.

The police were able to identify the victim. The Phoenix Police say that the victim was a fifty-four year old man named David Pacheco-Chavez. The car was that he was shot and killed at was the Los Olivos Car Wash.

Police are unsure of why the suspect would shoot his family member. Especially since the victim and suspect lived together. But apparently there might have been an on-going dispute between them. The victim, David Pacheco-Chavez was actually an employee of the Los Olivos Car Wash.

This might sound like a strange shooting and it is, but sadly these kind of random shootings aren’t uncommon. It’s sad that these family members couldn’t work out their differences peacefully instead of it ending with one of their lives.

Felon Sentenced For Shooting Phoenix Police Officer

Man Shoots Phoenix Officer and Sentenced for 62 Years

A convicted felon has now been sentenced to sixty-two years in prison for the 2013 shooting that had wounded a Phoenix Police Officer. These police officers put their life on the line to keep our lives safe, so I’m glad this officer will get some peace knowing that his shooter is facing the consequences. Not often enough, do the victims get to see justice from the suspects. This was a win for all wounded police officers.

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the shooter, Brandon McCabe was sentenced on Thursday to an “aggravated term”.  He had been convicted back in August for attempted first-degree murder as well as: aggravated assault, criminal trespassing, misconduct involving weapons, and resisting arrest.  Quite a colorful past for our shooter.

McCabe Has Criminal Past

On January 6, 2013 Brandon McCabe was accused of shooting Police Officer, Peter “Chris” Bennett on that January night.  Luckily thirty-six year old Officer Bennett survived his gunshot wounds. He suffered injuries to his face, right hip, and right arm. Apparently Officer Bennett survived the wounds. He approached the shooter, McCabe in an area which has a pretty high burglary rate.

Brandon had ignored the Officer’s command and then the two then exchanged gunfire. McCabe was then arrested after he was found hiding in a nearby shed, like a little coward. He also had some gunshot wounds to both of his hands. Sounds like it would have been a crazy gun shoot out.

Hopefully less officers are injured keeping our streets safe. They work hard all year round with many hours, they definitely do not get paid enough. Let’s hope Officer Bennett’s recovery goes well and he’s back to being himself.  We need more police and more citizens like Officer Bennett and less people like McCabe in this crazy world.
